IUI is referred to artificial insemination, which is a procedure that places the partner’s or donor prepared sperm into a woman’s uterus via a soft catheter around the time of ovulation.
IUI can increase the chances of conception by increasing the number of sperm able to reach the egg. IUI is different than IVF, where fertilisation happens in the laboratory. In IUI, conception occurs in the female reproductive tract.
IUI can be done in a natural cycle or as part of a medicated cycle.
Some indications for IUI include low sperm count, erectile dysfunction, sperm antibodies, cervical factors, single women, same sex couples.
If you have started an IUI cycle or if you are considering IUI, acupuncture may be able used in conjunction to your IUI cycle.
