LABOUR PREPARATION
At Holistic Acupuncture, we offer a unique labour preparation plan. The treatments are comprehensive, effective and gentle to prepare the whole body for birth. We recommend you start preparing for birth anywhere from 30-37 weeks.
We focus on all pre physiological events involved in birth preparation. Treatments aim at reducing the time spent in labour, prevent tearing and lessen the rate of medical intervention including medical inductions and caesarian sections.
Acupuncture can prepare the uterus to effectively contract during birth, softens the cervix, engage the baby in the pelvis and prevent overdue deliveries.

We treat and prepare the whole body to give birth, preparing your mind and body, rather than just stimulating points to start labour. Our treatments incorporate treating the front and back of the body. We have special pillows and support for pregnancy.

INCREASE HORMONE RELEASE
By promoting natural hormone release during the treatments, acupuncture can assist with milk production as well as relaxing the body and the pelvis to prepare for birth.
ENGAGE BABY INTO THE PELVIS
There are specific acupuncture points used to engage the baby into the pelvis and assist with delivery and optimal baby positioning in the pelvis.
SOFTENS THE CERVIX
At holistic we incorporate specific treatment strategies which can help to soften the cervix. A soft cervix may prevent a medical induction and assist with progression of the birth.
PROMOTE RIPENING OF THE CERVIX
Acupuncture is very effective at assisting with dilation of the cervix in preparation to birth. We use specific points in the body to help with cervix dilation.
